A Grace Greater Than All My Sin

God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were. But as people sinned more and more, God's wonderful grace became more abundant. (Romans 5:20)

Christianity often gets a bad rap because it is viewed of a religion of impossible rules and laws for living. The fact is Jesus came to restore our "relationship" with God, not to impose a bunch of rules or laws. The "law" or the 10 Commandments were etched in stone by God himself to show the people that they were sinful by nature. Notice that God placed them in a box called the Ark of the Covenant. It was basically a coffin. He covered those tablets out of site with a lid called the "mercy" seat. God hid the reminders of our sin and rebellion inside a box covered with his mercy. This was a picture of the way God see's those who believe in Jesus now. Jesus came, he took all of our sins in his body, and he was crucified on a cross, buried in a tomb, and after three days he arose from the dead. He took the punishment for us and paid for it with his blood. We have only to ask Jesus into our heart and believe that he is the Son of God and our sins are washed away, covered by the Blood of Jesus. This is a grace that abounds in the presence of sin. This is a greater than all of our sins and reminder that it is not what we do that matters; it is what Jesus did for us. So don't let the rules keep you from the grace of God.
